In 2002, Kokaistudios was invited to Shanghai to lead the restoration and renovation of one of the main landmarks of the city, Bund 18.

The strategy of development was to demonstrate the possibility to renovate an important historical building into a successful luxury life style center.

Kokaistudios was given the task of overseeing the entire project of architectural renovation; interior design of public, commercial, cultural and entertainment spaces; lighting design; signage and graphic.

We worked facing the double exigencies of balancing a desire between bringing the building back to its original simple splendour and a need to meet commercial and functional requirements of the Bund 18 Company.
